Essence & Atmosphere
Titled Saltlight Reflections, the Salt & Stone Nangang store embodies the brand’s core philosophy—the purity of “salt” and the permanence of “stone”. These values are reimagined spatially through a sensory-driven design that feels light yet essential. Natural textures, raw finishes, and gentle lighting converge to transpose the muted warmth of a Californian palette into the vibrant pace of Taipei, offering a serene pause amidst urban intensity.
Entry Experience

The existing dual-entry condition of the site prompted the designer to craft two contrasting yet complementary arrival experiences. The main entrance, featuring full-height glazing and an open bread counter, instantly releases a vibrant energy reminiscent of Californian sunlight. In contrast, the side entry—framed by recessed greenery, exposed concrete walls, and backlit signage—offers a serene and composed welcome.
Spatial Flow & Seating
The interior layout adapts to a variety of rhythms, from solo coffee breaks to large gatherings. Multiple seating typologies align with the circulation flow, allowing smooth transitions between public openness and private retreat.
Material & Visual Language
The central visual zone draws inspiration from the distinctive landscape rhythm of Palm Springs, echoing its clean geometry and crisp lines. Natural materials and abstract motifs are layered into the composition, establishing a subtle sense of order between structure and shadow.
Central Feature
The ambience delicately balances leisure and social interaction. Walls serve both as contemplative surfaces and photogenic backdrops for sharing and gathering. The central column, rather than being clad in mirror, is treated with sculpted white stone and mosaic tiles—creating a textural focal point while minimising maintenance concerns associated with reflective finishes.
Design Objectives
• High Visual Identity: Strong foval elements articulated through geometric lighting and refined detailing of raw materials.
• Differentiated Spatial Flow: Dual entries and hythmic spatial zoning generate a layered experiential journey.
• Product-Experience Resonance: The brand’s culinary philosophy is translated into spatial craftsmanship, enhancing emotional and sensory connection.

The experience unfolds in four moments: From afar, a luminous wall draws the eye; Upon entry, the pace slows, inviting closer attention to the subtle material warmth; Moving inward, textures and geometry begin to resonate with quiet clarity; Finally, within the softly lit seating area, a silent dialogue emerges—between taste, tactility, and atmosphere.
